The General Security and Privacy Policy concerns privacy practices within the scope of the activity carried out by the Commission for the Protection of Victims of Crime (hereinafter referred to as CPVC). The personal data provided will be treated with the guarantees of security and confidentiality required by the legal framework for the protection of personal data.

The personal data processed by CPVC is exclusively within the scope of requests for advance compensation made by victims of violent crimes and/or domestic violence, under the terms of Law no. 104/09, of 14 September, Ministerial Order no. 403/2012, of 7 December, Council Directive 2004/80/EC, of 29 April 2004, and other applicable legislation.
Storage of Personal Data
The personal data collected by the CPVC will be kept for as long as determined by the Specialised Support Services, Documentary Resources and Public Relations Department of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice, or another entity to which this responsibility is legally assigned.
The retention periods may change when the associated public interest, historical, scientific or statistical reasons justify it, and CPVC undertakes to adopt the appropriate conservation and security measures.
